Most bamboo toothbrushes are only green on the handle — the bristles are still nylon. SELVA is the toothbrush we ourselves were looking for but couldn't find: completely plastic-free, from bamboo handle to natural bristles.
The story
It started by the sink
I thought I had done the right thing. I had bought a bamboo toothbrush. Then, one evening, I turned the package over and read the fine print: bristles made of nylon-6.
The handle was bamboo. The bristles were plastic. It wasn't plastic-free — it was painted green.
I looked for one that was entirely plastic-free — bristles included. It wasn't available in Denmark. So we made it ourselves: a bamboo handle and natural animal hair bristles, completely without nylon.
The Mission
Change one thing. Be done with it.
You don't need to change your entire life. You're not an eco-warrior—you just want to be able to look at yourself in the mirror and know that this choice was genuine. SELVA makes it easy to start somewhere: with your toothbrush.

SELVA is built on the principles we were looking for ourselves — but couldn't find anyone who upheld.
Not 97%. Completely.
Most "green" brushes are only plastic-free on the handle. SELVA is plastic-free all the way — bamboo and natural bristles, no nylon anywhere.
No jungle of claims
We only state what we can substantiate. No empty greenwash, no claims you need to be a chemist to understand. You need to know what it really is.
Before plastic existed
Natural animal hair brushes are the original toothbrush — that's how it was done long before nylon. It worked then. It still works.
How SELVA is different

Open in plastic-free packaging
Your SELVA arrives in 100% unbleached paper — no plastic. The packaging can go directly into the compost.
Brush as usual
Use SELVA just like any other toothbrush. The bamboo handle provides a natural grip, and the natural fibers clean gently.
Composter handle
When the bristles are worn out (approx. every 3 months), remove the bristles and place the bamboo handle in the compost.

The materials
That's why we choose natural materials
Bamboo. The handle is made from bamboo – one of the world's fastest-growing plants. It is biodegradable and completely plastic-free.
Boar bristles. Keratin-based fibres, a bit firmer – for those who want a thorough feel. A by-product of meat production.
Horsehair. Extra soft, fine fibre from the mane – ideal for tender gums, sensitive teeth, and children.
