Does SELVA release microplastics?
No. SELVA brushes are made from 100% natural fibres without nylon or plastic, so they do not release microplastics during brushing.
Do natural fibers clean as well as nylon?
Yes. A comparative study (PMC, 2025) found comparable plaque removal efficacy—on par with conventional brushes.
Are the brushes vegan?
No. We use natural animal hair — boar bristles or horsehair. Biodegradable, but not vegan.

Does SELVA make health claims?
No. We refer to research on microplastics as documented exposure – not as a specific disease.
Can the handle be composted?
Yes. Remove the bristles with pliers and place the bamboo handle in the home compost.
