Nylon bristles on a plastic toothbrush, close up
What your child brushes with

Small teeth. The same nylon.

Kids' toothbrushes are made of exactly the same plastic as the adult ones — just with a bit of colour on.

A bamboo handle with nylon bristles does just as well as us on climate. The difference is the bristles, and they are the part that touches your teeth.

Questions? We have the answers

What parents ask us

Are natural bristles less hygienic than nylon?

No. The bristles are boiled and sterilised before they go into the brush. They absorb more water than nylon, so rinse the brush after use and stand it with the bristles up — then it dries between each time.

Where do the bristles come from?

The horsehair is cut from the mane — just like trimming a horse. It does not hurt, the hair grows back, and it is a by-product of the food industry. No animal is put down for a toothbrush.

From what age?

From about age 3, when the child can hold a brush themselves, up to around 8. The head is smaller and the bristles are the softest we make. From age 8 most can move to the adult brush — the vegan one (soft) is a good next step, horsehair (medium) once the teeth are fully in.

How long does a brush last?

Six to eight weeks, like an ordinary toothbrush. Replace it when the bristles start to splay. Four in the pack lasts one child about half a year.

Can the whole brush be composted?

Yes, the whole brush. The bamboo handle and the bristles are both natural materials and go in the compost as they are. The box is unbleached cardboard and goes in the paper recycling.

When will it arrive, and what does shipping cost?

The kids' toothbrushes are on pre-order. They are in production now, and expected delivery is 4–8 weeks. You will hear from us by email before dispatch, and you can cancel and get your money back at any time until then. Shipping is 39 kr under 300 kr and free from 300 kr — everything ships with track and trace.

What if my child does not like it?

Send it back within 30 days and get your money back, even if it has been used every day. On top of that you have 14 days' right of withdrawal and a 2-year right to complain.
